Hummingbirds: Little Wonders

Humming birds are beautiful birds, that we see at our feeder every year! Do you know much about them? Well, here's some fun facts about them.

Humming birds are the smallest birds in the world, and the smallest warm blooded creatures! They can fly forwards, backwards, and hover. They can tell what percent sugar is in the nectar of the flower they  drink from.
They have a heartbeat of around 1,260 beats per minute! That's crazy right, ours is 60-100 beats per minute. Anyways when night comes they are in trouble, because they cannot go around finding flowers all night, and the flowers close anyways. They would simply die if they did not have this amazing system called torpor. Ever night, it slows their heart beat to 36 times per minute. It's amazing, not a feature that sounds like was evolved.
